Staff Attorney (Jones School of Law)

Faulkner University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Staff Attorney for the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in its Legal Clinics.
The Legal Clinics provide law students with an opportunity to learn the practice of law under faculty supervision, as well as serve the community by providing pro bono legal services.
Candidates for this position must have a desire to work with clinical faculty in teaching and supervising law students.
The selected individual may also have the opportunity to teach additional courses as needed and based on qualifications.
Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with the churches of Christ.
This is a full-time (40
hours per week), 12-month, salaried position.
Summary of Duties:
Participate with clinical faculty in the education and training of students in the Legal Clinics At the Clinic Directors' discretion, assist in direct supervision of students in the Legal Clinics, such as the Mediation Clinic and Generational and Ancestral Property Clinic Conduct intake and evaluation of prospective Legal Clinic clients; assist in the selection of clients and development of legal matters Represent clinic clients individually as needed, primarily between semesters; provide limited assistance and referrals for legal issues as appropriate Conduct community education and outreach for the Legal Clinics Support the law school's Field Placement Program, including teaching the class component and guiding the reflection of students Support the law school's Public Interest Program, including organizing, participating in, and supervising pro bono legal clinics Engage with the Montgomery County Bar Association, Montgomery County Volunteer Lawyers Program and other partner organizations Work with the Clinics' Directors on policy, research, law reform, and other matters, subject to time and interest of the Staff Attorney Provide administrative support to the Legal Clinics
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor from an ABA approved law school required Member in good standing with the Alabama State Bar required Education or experience in mediation or alternative dispute resolution preferred Active member of the church of Christ preferred For initial application submit:
