The USAF Air University's Air War College (AWC) invites applications for a faculty position as the Director, Research and Electives. This primary purpose of this position is to direct, manage and monitor the development and execution of the AWC in-resident electives and student research programs. This position also requires teaching, other academic administration, and advising in the AWC core and elective curriculum.
AWC is the Air Force's Senior Professional Military Education institution and prepares students to lead successfully as senior officers in joint, coalition and interagency environments, exhibiting the traits essential to the profession of arms and promoting the proper employment of airpower capabilities. AWC graduates are able to analyze complex political-military situations in order to influence senior-level decision making by clearly articulating critical thought through written and oral communication in order to develop and shape military strategies which, in concert with other instruments of national power, achieve national security strategy objectives. As senior leaders, AWC graduates will capitalize upon diverse personal and professional relationships forged from the broader AWC educational experience.

You must be eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position Travel and relocation expenses may be paid Position may require a pre-employment drug test You will be required to do some travel The primary duties of this position involve the direction and oversight of the college's elective and student research programs. The incumbent will also teach and have the opportunity to conduct professional research. This position oversees the development and assignment of student research topics and provides some administrative support such as assisting students in the development of research topics and identifying appropriate faculty advisors. This incumbent also oversees an elective program consisting of over 70 elective courses, serves as the chair of the elective committee and manages the entire annual life cycle of the college's elective program. The incumbent also assists the Dean and Associate Dean in developing and managing the college's faculty development program. Finally, as a faculty member, the incumbent develops curriculum, teaches within core curriculum and/or elective courses and advises student research.
AWC is an interdisciplinary school that requires a unique synergy of academic and operational expertise to a focus at the strategic and operational level of war. Incumbent requires relevant academic experience commensurate with the requirements to teach senior US and international military and civilian leaders. The position requires a broad knowledge of military and academic culture, knowledge of research methods and demonstrated skill in writing and editing for publication. It also requires the incumbent to have skill in designing, developing, and evaluating course materials and instructional methodologies. The ability to lead diverse teams and communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences is a requirement. The position requires a broad knowledge of joint/service military thought and theory to include the elements of national power, international relations, and military capabilities and limitations. The position is open to relevant academic disciplines but the focus of academic expertise is on military history, comparative military studies, information operations, leadership, ethics and national security strategy and policy.
A Ph.D. is highly desired; a master's degree is required and _must_ be in an academic discipline relevant to joint professional military education such as military history, comparative military studies, international relations, political science, leadership and ethics and national security strategy and policy. Academic rank for the position is open but the focus is at the Assistant Professor and Administrative Faculty level.

The position will be an initial three year appointment with a one-year probationary period, with the potential for continued reappointment for additional 3-5 year terms.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
