Lead Cardiac Tech
The Lead Cardiac Technician provides administrative direction for telemetry staff on their shift and assists the nursing staff in monitoring the heart rhythms of patients on telemetry. The ability to interpret dysrhythmias and respond quickly and appropriately in the notification of nursing staff is essential. Some record keeping and posting of rhythm strips may be required. This position is also responsible for working as a team member within the Non-Invasive cardiology area to perform electrocardiographs and stress test procedures. This position is also responsible for the clerical operation of the EKG area. Clerical functions include preparation of data for physician interpretation, transcription, filing and reporting to the medical record. Current AL LPN license and Basic Life Support required. Successful completion of an EKG interpretation course required within six (6) months of employment . Prior training in EKG rhythm strip interpretation. One (1) year of monitor room and/or EKG experience required.
