PURPOSE OF EXAMINATION:
To establish an employment register to fill future vacancies with the Water Works and Sanitary Sewer Board of the City of Montgomery.
NATURE OF WORKThe PC Technician performs skilled preventive maintenance, installs new hardware and software, repairs malfunctioning computers, and upgrades business computer clients.
The PC Technician provides end-user technical and networking support.
This employee reports to the Assistant Information Technology Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Inspects, installs, or assists in installation of computer hardware.
The work performed may be on the user's premises following design or installation specifications.
Installs specified software packages such as operating systems, office productivity applications, and/or upgrades into computer.
Provides preventive maintenance and installs, modifies, and makes minor repairs to computer hardware, software systems and peripheral devices.
Provides technical assistance and training to system users in person and remotely concerning systems operation, system hardware, software, and operator problems.
Maintains inventory and records purchases of all PCs and other peripheral equipment.
Assists with desktop network connectivity, troubleshooting, and workstation deployment.
Assists in the help desk operation and provides a positive user experience.
Participate in the iterative support improvement process.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES to include the following:
Performs other duties as may be required.
REQUIREMENTS OF WORKTroubleshooting technical issues of varying difficulties, with or without an existing knowledge base for reference.
Knowledge of business computer troubleshooting procedures.
Knowledge of mobile device operating systems.
Knowledge of software packages to include common business applications, and modern web browsers.
Knowledge of client endpoint protection solutions.
Knowledge of currently supported Microsoft operating systems.
Knowledge of IP networking.
Knowledge of computer hardware equipment to include desktop computers, printers, and other peripheral devices.
Ability to read, understand, interpret, and decipher information from technical manuals.
Ability to carry out written and oral instructions, maintain accurate records, and prepare complete and comprehensive reports of accomplished work.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective and efficient working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, and vendors.
Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEBachelors Degree in an Information Technology related field.
Valid current driver's license and be insurable by the Board's insurance carrier.
DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEFour years experience in business desktop support.
A CertificationNetwork CertificationPHYSICAL ABILITIESAbility to see, hear and speak in normal ranges and tones.
Ability to carry, pack/unpack moderately heavy computer equipment components (up to 50 lbs.
), carry loads up to 50 feet, and install equipment at user locations both locally and at remote sites.
Ability to do sedentary work, view a computer screen monitor, type, and enter data into a personal computer or laptop for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWork will normally be performed in a professional office environment with visits to other work sites and facilities but will include installation and support of mobile computing equipment in vehicles.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
