Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Tech

Summary Members assigned to this position provide imaging services leadership in specialized and complex areas of radiologic technology and/or general diagnostic radiology services.
The incumbent performs and leads Computerized Tomography (CT) examinations on all body regions, including complex procedures with multiplanar reformations, 3-dimensional reconstructions, dynamic contrast imaging, body CT, and CT angiography.

Videos Duties Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ensuring all patients are thoroughly screened for contraindicated devices, medical conditions, or any other applicable hazard prior to entering the CT environment.
Explain exams to competent patients, their family members, or surrogate(s) as appropriate so they can understand what is to be done as well as which hazards, if any, are possible.
Provide technical oversight and assigns personnel and tasks to be accomplished in a manner that assures completion of the workload utilizing the personnel to the greatest advantage thus providing the optimal level of patient care within the workday.
Monitor and report on the status and progress of work and adjust accomplish the workload in accordance with established procedures.
Perform general and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures in advanced levels of complex treatment situations.
Maintain National Patient Safety Goals by properly identifying appropriate patient(s) for the proper exam or imaging study.
Perform digital radiography examinations of head, neck, spine, chest, and body; digital radiography; and general fluoroscopic examinations of multiple body regions.
Required to be on-call and perform CT and Diagnostic Radiology examinations.

Qualifications Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship:

Certification.
All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R) and Advanced ARRT certification is required for Computerized Tomography (CT) assignment.
Advanced certification indicates that the incumbent can operate independently and has demonstrated specific clinical competency in the appropriate specialty and taken and passed the designated examination.
In modalities that require advanced certification, to support their continued development, technologists who do not possess an advanced certification may be provided on the job training with oversight from a certified radiologic technologist.
Education.
Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or other accrediting agencies as recognized by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE).
English Language Proficiency.
DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.
S.
C.
7402(d), and7407(d).
Credentialing Standards.
Public Law 97-35, the Consumer-Patient Radiation Health and Safety Act of 1981, requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75, Standards for the Accreditation of Educational Programs, and the Credentialing of Radiographic Personnel.
Essentially, they must have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education and be certified as radiographers in their field Grade Determinations:
Specialized Experience.
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9) directly related to the position that demonstrates the clinical competencies needed to provide services for this specialty area a.
Ability to provide technical oversight and assign personnel and tasks to be accomplished in a manner that assures completion of the workload utilizing the personnel to the greatest advantage thus providing the optimal level of patient care within the workday; b.
Ability to plan, direct, and distribute work assignments to DRTs at lower grade levels; c.
Skill in instructing and training DRTs on newly acquired equipment, d.
Ability to plan and project staffing needs; and e.
Skill to independently perform general and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures in advanced levels of complex treatment situations Creditable
Experience:
To be creditable, experience must have demonstrated possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics (also referred to as core competencies) associated with current radiologic technology practice.
This may have been evidenced by the equivalent of one year of active practice, which is paid or non-paid employment as a DRT as defined by ARRT.
Quality of Experience.
Experience is only creditable if it was earned after completion of the basic requirements.
Experience as a graduate DRT is creditable provided the candidate functioned as a DRT and subsequently passed the certification examination.
Part-Time Experience.
Part-time experience as a DRT is creditable according to its relationship to full-time workweek.
For example, a DRT would receive 1 week of full-time credit for each 2 weeks of half-time work.
The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-10.
Physical Requirements:
Work requires walking, pushing, lifting and carrying of film cassettes, chemical containers and patient transport devices.
Heavy lifting of incapacitated patients is done with the assistance of other employees.
